Our close partnerships with Georgian Bay Equine and Ferguson Equine ensure expert care at every stage, helping you achieve your breeding goals.

FOALING AND RAISING SERVICES

FOALING SERVICES

We offer dedicated foaling services for both ship-in and resident broodmares. Our experienced team of foaling attendants provides 24/7 monitoring, with Claire personally assisting each delivery. While most foalings proceed smoothly, challenges can arise, particularly with maiden mares or those struggling during labor. In such cases, having experienced professionals on-site and veterinary assistance on call can be lifesaving.

Our team supports mares through all stages of labor, including ensuring the proper delivery of the placenta. Postpartum care includes closely monitoring the vitals of both mare and foal for at least one week to ensure their health and well-being. To aid recovery, we offer Bemer (Bio-Electro Magnetic Energy Regulation) treatments to support mares during their postpartum period.

We also have on-farm equipment to test colostrum quality and maintain a colostrum bank from donor mares. This allows us to promptly supplement newborns if the dam’s colostrum quality is inadequate or if milk production is delayed. Your mare and foal will receive exceptional care at every stage of the process.

RAISING SERVICES

We handle foals very carefully right from birth to nurture their confidence, build a strong connection with people, and teach them good manners and patience. Within 24 hours, they wear their first leather halters and begin learning to have their legs handled and feet picked up in preparation for farrier work. Foals follow a carefully managed farrier routine to support optimal development. De-worming is conducted in line with AAEP guidelines to ensure the health and well-being of the youngsters.

Some foals may be born with angular limb deformities or issues like lax or contracted tendons. Our team is highly experienced in neonate support and can typically provide all necessary treatments right here on the farm. This approach reduces the need for expensive and stressful trips to a veterinary clinic. We use non-invasive methods such as glue-on foal shoes, splinting, and supportive care to aid in their development, often eliminating the need for surgical intervention. Our close collaboration with veterinarians and farriers ensures precise and effective care, giving your future champion the best possible start.
